Prescriptions
There is no charge for NHS consultations, however, if your doctor prescribes medication, the charge payable for the prescription at the Pharmacy, from 1st April 2011, is £7.40 per item.
Students aged 18 and under are exempt from Prescription charges.
Repeat Prescriptions
If the review date indicated on the prescription has expired, please make an appointment with a doctor. If the review date hasn't expired, prescriptions may be requested in the following ways:-
Please give 48 hours notice before calling to collect your prescription.
- Via the repeat prescriptions online form
- By telephoning 0114 22 22100 to access voice mail
- By returning the right hand side of your prescription to reception (by hand, internal mail or by post)
Collecting Prescriptions From Weldrick's Pharmacy

Repeat prescriptions not collected by 5.00 pm on Friday evenings may be either collected from and/or dispensed at Weldrick´s Pharmacy (tel 2761321) on Glossop Road, on Saturday mornings between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm. Any uncollected prescriptions will then be returned to the University Health Service the following Monday morning for collection.
If your local pharmacy is closed the Associated Chemists on the Wicker (tel 272 7676) is open as follows:
Weekdays 8.30 am - 10.00 pm
Sundays & Bank Holidays 10.00 am - 8.00 pm
