Department of History

Anonymity

Level One

Students write their registration numbers, not their names, on invigilated examination scripts. In the History Department, assessed coursework is not submitted anonymously. This allows for tutorial discussion prior to submission where candidates find that helpful, and for feedback once coursework has been assessed. No single piece of assessed work accounts for more than 25% of a module mark at Level One; it is normally less than this.

Level Two and Level Three

Students write their registration numbers, not their names, on invigilated examination scripts, on Course Assignments, Dissertations, the first essay for HST3000 The Uses of History and the second essay for the Comparative Options; in the History Department, other assessed coursework is not submitted anonymously. This allows for tutorial discussion prior to submission where candidates find that helpful, and for feedback once coursework has been assessed.
