To find out more about studying History at Sheffield, and to give you a chance to get to know our staff and students, you are warmly invited to come to an open day. There are two kinds of open day: University open days that take place over the summer and post-offer History Department open days that take place in spring.

A general University open day lets you get a feel for what living and studying in Sheffield is like as well as giving you the chance to attend a History talk to find out more about our degrees. Our post-offer open days allow you find out more in-depth information about your chosen degree programme, experience a sample seminar and talk to current students and staff.

University Open Days

These open days let you explore life at the University of Sheffield. You can learn about accommodation, finance, sports facilities and life at our award winning Students' Union.

Our campus tours allow you to visit our library, sports centre and Students' Union, while our accommodation tours take you to the student village to get a feel for where you would be living. We would also recommend having a look around the city; the University is a 10 minute walk from the centre and forms a major part of the city's vibrant, friendly atmosphere.

Our History talks give you the opportunity to find out about the History Department and our degree programmes and our Faculty Exhibition offers you the chance to informally chat to staff and current students.

  • You will meet our current students, who can give you a first-hand perspective on their experience of studying History at Sheffield.
  • Students from the History Society will be on hand to tell you about what they offer and how you can get involved.
  • Our current students will also be available to show you around the Department and campus and accompany you on accommodation tours.

Our post-offer open day dates for this year are Wednesday 19 February, Wednesday 5 March, Saturday 22 March and Wednesday 2 April. We very much hope you can join us for one of them.
