2010-11 Pay Negotiations Update

A series of meetings have been held commencing in March 2010 between UCEA on behalf of the employers and the recognised trade unions representing staff members to seek agreement for pay settlement in 2010-11. A final pay offer of 0.4% has been made by UCEA to the unions. The offer also includes specific commitments to work with the unions on a predetermined range of issues incorporating, at their request, a new training and development initiative and subsequent work on the equalities agenda. This represent a continued and ongoing commitment to work initiated as part of the 2009-10 pay settlement by both parties

Four of the five unions are now consulting with their respective national executives on the offer. The remaining union, UCU, have rejected the offer and have indicated that they have a mandate to ballot members on industrial action should an agreement not be reached. The employers have suggested inviting assistance from ACAS in order to move towards an agreement. A response is awaited from UCU on this.
