Mr Martyn Heathcote
"I qualified as a solicitor almost 15 years ago and have continued to practise during my last 9 years at the university.
With a particular interest in employment law, I have often encountered situations in which employers have misunderstood their obligations to their employees, or have not followed the policies that are designed to give effect to those obligations. I am also very aware of the strain that these situations put on the employment relationship and on employees themselves. I therefore look forward to being part of the sub group that considers the implementation of the university's equality and diversity policies, not just in relation to staff, but in relation to our diverse student population."
Dr Brendan Stone
“Many of my academic and personal interests centre on issues related to equality, such as disability and discrimination; mental illness and stigma; widening participation in education; and social inclusion. I came from a non-traditional background into the University, having left school at 16 and not doing a degree till I was nearly 40. I am particularly interested in the ways in which the University engages with the city and region, and see this relationship as being of great mutual benefit. I'm very pleased to be working on this aspect of our equality and diversity policies.”
