Equality Data
Our goal is for a fully inclusive University community, where staff and students demand the highest standards from each other, and work together to maximise the benefits of difference. We want to build a diverse, motivated and inclusive culture where people are able to be themselves and feel supported and valued.
By considering our workforce profile, we are able to reflect on our services, ensure we are getting things right in our policies, and identify any gaps for particular groups and develop targeted initiatives. Trend data also helps us to measure the impact of our initiatives and ongoing equality work.
We would therefore encourage all staff to update their equality information via myJob.
To do this please Log onto MUSE (top of any page) and select the Staff Applications tab. Then Select myJob/myTeam/eRecruitment, under Business Applications and, once in myJob, click on the Personal Information tab where you will be able to access your personal equality information.
In addition to monitoring by equality characteristics, including age, disability, ethnic origin, gender and gender reassignment, religion or belief and sexual orientation, we also gather qualitative data through our equality focussed university events and through staff networks. To find out more about our equality related work contact Julie Campbell email: J.L.Campbell@sheffield.ac.uk Tel: 21499 or see the University´s Equality and Diversity strategy – Excellence Through Inclusion
For further information on monitoring and disclosure please see our Frequently Asked Questions section or contact Sarah Woodhead email: s.woodhead@sheffield.ac.uk Tel: 29833
Collection of staff data helps the University to comply with public sector duties placed on us by anti-discrimination legislation, and with Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) requirements. Data will be stored in line with the Data Protection Act 1998 (HM Government, 1998b).
