Ten top tips to ensure a successful SRDS Review - Reviewer
Before
Ensure you know who you are reviewing. Your Head of Department will determine the reviewer/reviewee pairings.
Arrange a meeting with all your reviewees in plenty of time, giving them at least two weeks notice of the date, time and location.
Check if your reviewees have seen the team/department objectives, and if not, let them know how they can be accessed.
Prepare for the meeting by reading through the reviewee's SRDS form, and begin to think about your feedback by considering the reviewee's work over the last year, as well as what you think the reviewee should be focussing on in the next 12 months.
During
Arrive on time.
Ensure the meeting is open and constructive, and encourage dialogue between you and your reviewee. Try not to make assumptions about your reviewee’s career aspirations and use the SRDS meeting to discuss your reviewee’s career aspirations.
Address any issues raised in advance of or during the review meeting.
Ensure that you and your reviewee have covered all the areas you wanted to.
After
Set some time aside soon after the review meeting to complete the reviewer's section of the SRDS form, and to take any further actions agreed in the review meeting.
Arrange a mid-year review. This will give you and your reviewee a chance to keep track of progress against the agreed objectives, and to check the agreed objectives are still appropriate.
