Honorary Lecturer
Contributes to departmental teaching or research and undertakes collaborative work with University staff that is equivalent in standing to a Lecturer.
Has a significant reputation in the field of research/expertise/teaching and may be active in disseminating findings through publications and conferences.
Holds an equivalent position in an external organisation, NHS Trust, another Higher Education institution or within industry.
No remuneration is paid.
Procedure
- Recommendation from the Head of Department, including a full CV, the reasons for recommendation and the individual’s contact details, to the Faculty Director of Research & Innovation/Director of Learning & Teaching (as appropriate). The recommendation should indicate the period of tenure (up to 3 years).
- The title of Honorary Lecturer will be considered and approved by the Faculty Director of Research & Innovation/Director of Learning & Teaching (as appropriate) of the Faculty by which the title is requested.
- The Head of Department issues letter of confirmation and terms and conditions of conferment (see Downloads). The conferment of the Title will only be valid when the letter has been issued. (All personal messages or arrangements should be conveyed separately). A copy of the letter of confirmation should be copied to the Department of Human Resources.
