About HR

* What does HR do?

- HR undertakes a range of strategic, support and development work and provides services for University staff. In particular it is responsible for:

* How is HR structured?

- HR is split into four teams - Strategy and Governance, HR Operations, Organisational Development, Employee Relations. The work of each team is detailed here: http://www.shef.ac.uk/hr/aboutus/whoweare

* Which committees govern the Department and its work?

- The work of HR is governed by the HRC (Human Resource Committee). The Department also fosters cordial relations with four recognised trade unions, which it engages through the JUCC (Joint Unions Campus Committee). - All of our offices are open to visitors and to telephone enquiries between 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.

* Where is HR?

- Human Resources is located in the Arts Tower. Please go to Level 1 Reception when visiting us.

Checking and Changing Personal Details

* How can I find out what grade and point I am on?

- myJob is a Staff Application in MUSE. In the 'My Staff Record' tab of this the information is given in the 'Appointment Summary' box, which can be expanded to give the point details.

* How can I change my address or bank details?

- They can be maintained in your myJob account under the personal information tab.

* How can I change my surname on myJob and my email address?

- To change your surname on MyJob please send a copy of your marriage certificate/deed poll to Human Resources. You can then contact the Computing Centre (CiCS) to arrange for a new email address to be created. You will also need to contact your local tax office with your new details.

* How can I change my name on the internal telephone directory?

- Certain personal details can be changed by your Departmental Telephone Liaison Officer, however should you require your name to be changed please contact your customary HR Assistant who can amend this on uBASE which will then change the Internal Telephone Directory automatically.

Managing Staff

* How do I report my department's SRDS outcomes?

- Each Head of Department and SRDS Co-ordinator will be sent a spreadsheet to complete by HR each summer. Queries may be directed to srdsdata@sheffield.ac.uk and further information can be found on the SRDS webpages: www.shef.ac.uk/hr/guidance/srds
