Consideration of recommendations

The Departmental Review Panel (DRP) should consider all the cases put forward by ‎reviewers in the department, and decide which ones are deserving of submission to ‎the faculty panels. The membership of the DRP includes the department´s HR ‎Adviser, who can provide advice where required.‎

If the DRP agrees to recommend the member of staff, the Head of Department ‎should ensure the recommendation is presented appropriately, before submitting ‎the case to Human Resources for consideration by the faculty panels. DRPs should ‎decide whether staff are to be told they have been recommended for an ECA.‎

Assessment and approval of ECAs at all grades is carried out within faculties, by the ‎faculty ECA panel. This panel consists of:‎

All panels are administered by an HR Adviser.‎

The panel assesses the recommendation for an ECA and judges whether they feel it ‎demonstrates either exceptional contribution or a sustained level of excellent ‎contribution, taking into account the context, grade and brief outline of the job.‎
