Salary review and re-banding

There is scope for salary increases to be awarded within the band. Managers will be invited to nominate staff for a salary increase or bonus. This nomination will be considered by the Registrar and Secretary, the Vice-Chancellor and the Director of Human Resources. Once nominations have been received, the remaining Professorial Equivalent staff will be invited to self-submit for either a salary review or bonus. Their case will be considered by the same panel.

Where the line manager identifies that a role may have grown into the next band, in line with the needs of the University, the panel will assess if the role should be re-banded.

Professorial Equivalent Pay Review Timetable 2013–14

Managers are invited to nominate staff that they feel warrant a salary increase, re-banding or bonus. Nomination forms should be sent to Human Resources.

Once all nominations have been received, Professorial Equivalent staff will be invited to self-submit for either a salary review or bonus. These forms should be sent to their Head of Department in order that they can complete the relevant section. The completed self-submission form should be sent to Human Resources by the Head of Department. Details of deadlines will be contained in the invitation for self-submissions.

Salary increases are considered in cases where contribution is excellent and sustained; bonuses may be awarded to recognise specific one-off achievements. Submissions will be considered at University level. Final approval for changes to Professorial Equivalent salaries and for the payment of bonuses is at the discretion of the Senior Remuneration Committee.
