Example activities by band and theme

In most cases it is expected that a professor will be contributing in each of the four areas:

• Research
  
  
• Teaching
  
  
• Leadership and Management
  
  
• Knowledge Transfer and Professional Standing
  
  

On these pages (links to the right) are examples of activities that would be expected in the given band. An individual professor is not expected to carry out all the activities in the band. The band of a professor reflects the overall level at which he or she is working.

Professors whose promotions or appointments have been based predominantly on teaching (or predominantly on research) are expected to be working at a higher level in teaching (or research) than professors in the same band whose role balances both teaching and research.
