Developing yourself
The University of Sheffield is committed to enabling staff to develop their skills and knowledge, to provide benefit to individual staff members, as well as providing organisational improvements in how work is undertaken.
There are a wide range of development opportunities available to University staff, which are listed on these pages. A number of the courses are delivered by Human Resources, and others are provided by other departments in the University, such as Student Services, CiCS and Research & Innovation Services.
The courses have been arranged into a number of different themes to make it easier to find a course to meet your needs. If you know the name of the course you wish to attend, there is also an alphabetical list.
Staff development isn't just about attending courses. A lot of your learning and development will take place as part of your day to day work. We also provide the 'Useful guide library' which is a set of resources on a range of topics that you can read and work through at your own pace. A small number of the courses we offer are delivered electronically, and it is hoped that we can increase this number in future, providing further flexibility for University staff in accessing development opportunities.
