Management Development
Current management development
There is a range of management development options available to managers across the University. The web link below lists the courses available as well as additional resources e.g. useful guides for self-development:
http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/hr/sld/developyourself/management
For staff taking part on any level of the Sheffield Leader we recommend participation on at least 2 of the courses shown here, known as ‘Management Electives’.
We can also tailor management development support for departments and / or faculties. For more information about this please email lmd@sheffield.ac.uk
Future management development
To complement the successful Sheffield Leader, we are now exploring options for a management development equivalent (known by the working title ‘the Sheffield Manager’). It will:
- Enable the University to achieve the strategic plan and its KPI’s, and to promote the Mission, Vision and Values
- Raise the capabilities and confidence of managers in implementing institutional policies consistently
- Enable our staff to be efficient and effective managers and meet the needs of both the institution and their team.
