Management Development

There is a range of management development options available to managers across the University. The web link below lists the courses available as well as additional resources e.g. useful guides for self-development:

For staff taking part on any level of the Sheffield Leader we recommend participation on at least 2 of the courses shown here, known as ‘Management Electives’.

To complement the successful Sheffield Leader, we are now exploring options for a management development equivalent (known by the working title ‘the Sheffield Manager’).  It will:

• Enable the University to achieve the strategic plan and its KPI’s, and to promote the Mission, Vision and Values
• Raise the capabilities and confidence of managers in implementing institutional policies consistently
• Enable our staff to be efficient and effective managers and meet the needs of both the institution and their team.

June 2013	Focus groups will be attended by line managers from all across the University at all levels - their input is essential to ensure the University provides the best management development and support possible
July 2013	The management development steering group will perform in depth analysis of the focus group results feeding back to the University Executive Board and HR Commitee
