This is a video of the 8th Annual Counselling Lecture given by David Mearns, Professor in Counselling Studies at Strathclyde University. The lecture explores the intriguing therapeutic processes involved in clients changing their self concept during person-centred therapy where battles may rage between parts of the client's self and where the therapist must engage in a therapeutic relationship with each of those parts.

This interactive training video programme features six short interviews using counselling skills and featuring cross cultural and cross racial issues and dialogues. A training manual, of the same title, is also available to this video and can be obtained directly from the University of Sheffield Staff Counselling at a price of £10.
