The Strafford Papers Project

| This project is working on the production of an electronic edition of the complete correspondence, held in the Sheffield City Archives, of Thomas Wentworth (1593-1648), 1st Earl of Strafford and Chief Minister to Charles I. As a loyal supporter of the monarchy he was executed on the eve of the Civil War. The project held an international conference at the University in 1994 and, with Cambridge University Press, published an important collection of essays in 1996. |
