...I'm too hot/cold?Report problems to us and we will do our best to resolve them. However, due to the open-plan nature of the building, the top floors tend to be a lot warmer and it will always be colder if you are sitting over a floor vent. |
...there are lots of study spaces "reserved" by unattended belongings?Let us know. At busy times, we do remove people's belongings if they have been left for more than 30 minutes. See the Code of Conduct for details. All PCs log off automatically after 25 minutes of inactivity. |
...a machine ate my money?If you were trying to add credit to your printing and copying account, let us know at the Information Desks.If it was a vending machine in the café, let the café staff know. When the Information Desks are closed, let the Welcome Desk know. |
...my UCard won't swipe?If your UCard won't swipe in the self-service machines, you can get a free replacement from the Computing Centre or SSiD Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.During service hours, staff on the Information Desks will be able to help you print/photocopy/borrow books before you get your new card. Otherwise, you will have to wait until you can get a new card. Sometimes UCards only swipe one way, so it's worth swiping up as well as down to see if it will work. |
...my printing doesn't appear on the print release station when I swipe my card?The most common reason for this is that you're not actually printing from your own account. To make sure, open My Computer and look at the username labelling the U Drive. Is it yours?Another reason might be that you have two accounts (maybe due to changing course). Please see a member of staff. Are you swiping at the right printer? We have 3 types of printer in the IC. 4100, 8150, and Colour. When you send a document to a print queue, you can release the printing to any printer on campus of the same type. Check the label on the printer. Finally, you cannot print from Kiosks. A Kiosk has a square screen and says CiCS Kiosk Service on it. These are designed for quick web access only. |
