Teaching Facilities

There are 4 hi-tech teaching spaces in the Information Commons which are available to staff who wish to develop their own teaching style and enhance their students´ learning experience.

Two of the rooms are equipped with plasma screen technology which allows 3 or 4 groups of up to eight students to work together independently in `clusters´ around 42" wall-mounted screens.

Alternatively, the session can be controlled by the lecturer via the Sympodium which lets you `write´ in digital ink over documents open on the lecturer´s PC or laptop, highlighting concepts and making notes. These notes can be projected onto any or all of the plasma screens so that the students can see them as they appear. Notes can be written over any Microsoft documents and saved afterwards.

The technology also allows DVDs to be played from the central teaching station and shown on any or all of the plasma screens. Scenes from these can be paused on screen so that notes and comments may be made via the Sympodium.
