Costs

Use of the e-newsletter system is charged on a pay-per-send basis. You only pay for what you use. You can get your newsletter started for a one-off fee of £150 (+vat). This will give you your account. You are then charged at a rate of a penny for every email you send to your readership, up to 50,000.

The Internal Communications team makes absolutely no profit from managing your account on the e-newsletter system. What you are billed on a monthly basis will depend entirely on the size of your email circulation list.

For example, if you emailed 6,000 people in a month your bill would be £60.00 +vat. However, if you only sent your newsletter on a quarterly basis then on the months where you sent nothing, you would pay nothing.

Billing

When you complete your form requesting an e-newsletter account, you will be asked to provide a uBase cost centre. This cost centre will be charged whenever you send an email using the e-newsletter system.

Training

dotMailer have an extensive number of training opportunities available to you as an account holder. If you require some basic training you can sign up for one of dotmailer’s fortnightly “webinar” training sessions or request a telephone training course. More detailed training can be arranged, upon request, through the Internal Communications team.

In addition, built into the system you will find numerous quick start /user guides that tell you everything you need to know to get started with dotMailer. You can also use the vast help facilities and even a user forum to pose questions.

Further Start-up Costs

Should you require bespoke templates for your newsletter, the Internal Communications team will be able to advise you on the best solution for your needs and provide you with a transparent costing for the job. We will also project manage the development of your templates.

Prices will vary depending on the amount of work involved in the development of your templates. For example, an adaptation of the existing generic template could cost as little as £95 (+VAT) per hour, while bespoke email and microsite templates can cost around £795 (+VAT) each.

You may not need both types of templates for your newsletter. You could use the email template alone, and connect your email to pages on the university website. However, having both templates will give you an all encompassing product with a uniform look and feel. The Internal Communication team will be happy to talk you through your alternatives.
