Rules for using the dotMailer system
The following are the guidelines by which you and all other users of the e-newsletter system must abide by and should be read in conjunction with the IT Code of Practice.
We want you to have an enjoyable experience using the system to produce informative and well read publications. These rules help to ensure that the system is used correctly and all publications adhere to basic University branding guidelines.
When using dotMailer:
- You must act responsibly and have respect for other users and your audience.
- You are directly responsible and liable for every campaign, publication and all activity under your name within dotMailer i.e. "You own your own words".
- You must own the copyright or have appropriate permission to use third party copyrighted material, and fully attribute its original author. For further information on copyright issues please see Copyright and Online Environments. Be particularly careful when using pictures that you own the copyright or have permission to use the image.
- You need to respect equality and diversity.
- You must not insult or be abusive to other users or your audience.
- The design of your newsletter should always adhere to established online Marketing guidelines.
Think before you send
It is advised that you consider your published content to be public and archived for a long time. Your comments and content should not, therefore, bring the University into disrepute.
So to prevent being misunderstood, try to be clear about what you say. Check your content before submitting, particularly for typographical and literal errors.
