Sagar Shah

Sagar graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2008 with a BEng in Aerospace Engineering.

I chose this university because I knew it was highly rated for my course, Aerospace Engineering. Another fact that made me choose it was that the living costs were cheaper than other universities. Also because Sheffield is the safest city in the UK and the general public is quite friendly. I am used to being called `love´ and `duck´.

I study Aerospace Engineering at undergraduate level and I think the course is a little bit tough. Otherwise it is good and exciting as we learn about how things work and it was completely out of my imagination and very fascinating. We engineers have more lectures and tutorials than others but I guess it pays off at the end.

I would say Sheffield is the place to be. I have been to other universities but Sheffield has the best balance between campus and city life. The nightlife here is amazing and there is always something or another to do. There is a lot of walking to do, but on the bright side it keeps me fit and active!!

In my spare time I go to the sporting complex. I would either be at the gym or playing squash. Other than that I would probably meet up with friends at Bar one or interval and have a couple of pints, which is so relaxing after a hectic day. I sometimes take part in the give it a go activities which are quite nice. Activities such as wine tasting and boxing.

The most difficult aspect of coming to Sheffield was the fact that I would be so far away from home and I would miss family a lot. This was hard for the first couple of weeks but once classes started and I made new friends it all changed. Right now I would say I am having the time of my life and I don´t want this university life to come to an end.

My advice for students coming to Sheffield would be don´t look back at all. The first couple of weeks you will feel homesick, but that is very normal and once you are settled in you will enjoy it too much and hope university doesn´t end for you.
