Kehinde graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2008 with an MSc Management.
Man has always been involved in the quest for knowledge and it becomes more beautiful when he searches and finds. Having shopped all round for a befitting school for my postgraduate studies, I eventually settled for the University of Sheffield. I chose the University of Sheffield because of its ranks among the top universities in the UK and of course as a result of its reputation for having a low cost of living, especially for students. It is what I call `A perfect learning environment´.
I chose and studied for an MSc degree in Management. The intelligent contributions, ideas and problem-solving approach to case studies and operations management issues greatly improved my business analytical skills and evaluations. I strongly believe that the depth of knowledge and experience both in the class and generally in Sheffield life is immeasurable. It is so robust and the MSc class creates a platform for intellectual debate both by lecturers and students alike. It prepared me for the bigger world ahead. It was worth every penny spent.
Sheffield is such a beautiful city. It has an array of beautifully located structures with magnificent views and has a reputation as being one of the safest cities with also the lowest cost of living. The social life is simply sensational from the ever-lively city centre down to West Street and beyond. This is definitely the ultimate experience I would say. When I was not in class or in the library doing academic work, I used to go to the school sports centre where I played football, or I did some exercises at the gym or simply went around shopping at the ever-lively city centre.
One of the most difficult aspects initially was the problem of having to locate places, like shops, streets, worship centers etc. A couple of times, I had to embark on an unplanned free-walk exercise which proved to be very beneficial later. This aspect is perhaps what most people would experience if they are not familiar with the city or country.
When you come to the University of Sheffield, be open minded, come with all expectancy knowing fully well that nothing less of the best is what you get. To enjoy Sheffield as a city and above all, the University of Sheffield, be interactive, ask questions, seek clarifications and be transparent. Enjoy the rich diverse culture that makes every individual unique in their own right and learn to accept and appreciate others. You might miss some of your local dishes and be home sick but in the end you will smile and discover you have not actually missed much.
