Student Societies for Japanese students
The Japan Society
The Sheffield University Japan Society was founded in 2001, and has continued to grow year-on-year.
The aim of the society is to bring the best of Japanese culture across to the UK, in addition to providing Japanese students with the chance to take part fully in British life whilst here in Sheffield.
Everyone is welcome to take part in our events, whether they be Japanese students studying in the UK, non-Japanese students studying Japanese, or indeed anyone with the slightest interest in Japan.
We hold various events throughout the year such as:
- Japan Day
- Movie nights
- Tandem Learning
- Samurai drama productions
- Christmas Party
- Sports Day
- Football league
- Asian Cup
- BBQ parties and days out etc
- Joint events with other international societies
The Japan Society is the place where you can make many friends.
Our members (of whom there are over 200) are typically 50% Japanese, 50% non-Japanese.
In June 2005 The Japan Society was delighted to be voted Best National Society 2004 - 2005 by the International Office.
