A picture of Ronak. In 2008 I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Development from the Art University of Tehran. After graduation, I worked for around two years in an urban planning and architectural consultation firm. Before coming to Sheffield, I was working at the United Nations Office in Iran. The experience I gained through work has developed my determination to pursue further education.

I chose to continue my education at the University of Sheffield for several reasons. The most important reason was the university’s reputation in the field of town and regional planning. Also, the university is one of the top ranking universities in the world, has good facilities and a well-known student union, and is located in a good city. Considering these points I had no doubt that the University of Sheffield would be a good choice for me to continue my education.

I should say that I have really enjoyed studying my subject at the University of Sheffield. In my department, modules are run and organised differently to suit the nature of the degree, some of which are presented in an innovative manner, this makes the learning process more pleasant and exciting. Moreover, what I think I have learned is not only limited to theory, but most importantly I have gained knowledge and improved skills which I’m sure is going to enhance my future career.

There are so many benefits associated with studying at the University of Sheffield. Most importantly, the teaching methods at the university are so efficient. Another benefit of studying at the University of Sheffield is the fact that the university and the staff will provide students with all the facilities and services which will make studying more convenient for them.

I can say that the overall experience of student life in Sheffield is satisfactory. I have really enjoyed student life in the city, it has given me the chance to socialize and meet new people. The city is lively, full of international students and a good place for student life; easy to get around, with low living costs compared with other cities in UK.

Through my degree I want to continue to PHD or start working after graduation. With knowledge and skills I have gained from studying at the University of Sheffield, I believe I will feel more confident pursuing my goals.

My advice to the prospective students coming to the University of Sheffield is to enjoy the experience and take advantage of the wide learning facilities available at the university, as well as the international and multicultural community. I hope your experience, which you will never forget, will be unique and beneficial as mine.
