Student Societies for Oman students
Omani Society
The Omani society's main roles are to gather Omani students in the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University and to present a bright picture of Omani Culture.
The Omani Society is open to all students and attracts both students from Oman and those who are interested in learning more about Omani culture and society.
The society meets every Friday and organises many other events including:
- Oman National Day Celebrations
- Eid Alfater and Eid Al-Adha parties
- Sporting activities including football tournaments
- Annual gathering for Omani societies in the UK
- Visits to other cities and places outside of Sheffield
- Trip around the UK
- Farewell parties for final year students
- Shared events with other Omani societies in the UK

Arab Society
The Arab Society's aim is get all the Arab students in the University together and to introduce Arab culture to the University. The society fully participates in the events organised by the University's International Student Committee including the annual International Food Evening where in 2004 the society won the "Best Food" category.
The Arab Society is open to all students and organises many events through the year including:
- regular socials/gatherings in Sheffield
- sport events such as football, volleyball, snooker including sports for women
- charity work for children in Iraq, Palestine and Sudan.
The Society also organises meetings for its members during Ramadan and organises celebrations for Eid Alfater and Eid Al-Adha.
