Sonal's Web Diary

16 hours after I left Heathrow I arrived in Tokyo Narita Airport to be greeted by my parents. “You look and sound so English!” my mum commented. I understand the sound English part, but I still wonder how I look English.

For the last couple of days I have been getting over my jet-lag as Japan is 8 hours ahead of England (in the winter it becomes 9 hours ahead because of daylight saving). It is nice to be home and back to mums cooking. One of my tasks this summer is to learn to cook basic and simple dishes as next year me and my flatmates will not have hall food so we have to learn to cook.

It is good to see familiar faces again. Meeting up with old friends and catching up is always fun and nearly all my friends are now back in Tokyo, giving me something to look forward to this summer.

Also 2 of my soon to be flat mates from England will be coming to Tokyo to visit me in the beginning of July! I can finally show them Tokyo and what I mean by how amazing a city it is. When I go on about “Tokyo this” and “Tokyo that” most of my English friends do not understand as they have usually not been out of the EU or any western country. I am excited because I have already seen their world and now I can show them mine.
