Sheffield among best for student experience
The University of Sheffield is among one of the top ten universities in the UK for its overall student experience, according to its own students. The University has been ranked 7th for ‘Best Student Experience’ in the Times Higher Education Supplement’s (THES) latest student satisfaction league table.
Students at Sheffield rated the University’s Union of Students as joint number one alongside Loughborough University in the survey carried out by the newspaper. Overall, the University of Sheffield also ranked highly for its social life, community atmosphere, extra-curricular activities and general university environment.
This latest success adds to the University’s Union recently being named as ‘Best Students' Union in the UK' by trade magazine, Club Mirror.
Mark Willoughby, President of the University’s Union of Students, said: “We are always pleased to be recognised for our achievements. However, this latest recognition has even deeper emphasis as it is our own students who have voted in the survey.
“Our award-winning Union is the focal point of the University and sits within a great city which has got a real village-like atmosphere. I am extremely proud to be part of such a community here at Sheffield.”
Keith Burnett, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield, added: “We are all aware that Sheffield has the best students’ union in the country but it is great to have it recognised in not one, but two external rankings.
“The social activities for students at Sheffield, both at the University and within the City, are second to none, making it one of the best places in the UK to have a great student experience.”
