Sonal's Web Diary

The last 6 weeks have absolutely flown by and another module has almost come to an end. Psychiatry is an interesting module; however, I think it is safe to say that I won’t be considering it as one of my future specialties. Though I found the concepts and theoretical side of the module fascinating the practicality is always different as is true with any branch of medicine. Though of course I myself have many gaps in my knowledge and I believe if I had a better understanding of neurology it would also have helped in perhaps understanding more behind the theories and ideas in psychiatry.

I feel as if I have nice holiday coming up as starting from this weekend I have the next 2 weeks off to pick and write a paper on a topic of my choice. The paper has to be a about recent advances that have taken place within neurology, psychiatry, or medicine for older people. With this open ended topic in mind I will spend the next 2 weeks doing a bit of work, but also leaving plenty of time for me to have a bit of relaxation and fun.

On another note many of the people I have spent the last 3 years with are now graduating and leaving. Some will stay in England to work or continue on in further education, but many will also be returning home. It is sad to think that this may be last time I see many of these people. I wish the graduating class of 2009 good luck and hope to see many of you all back in Sheffield .
