Entry Requirements
These are the general entry requirements for our Masters degrees and our Professional Enhancement Masters degrees. The entry requirements for the Health Informatics programmes are slightly different:
Health Informatics entry requirements
The English Language entry requirements detailed below apply to all of the School's postgraduate programmes.
Standard Masters degrees
Applicants to the School's standard Masters degrees are normally expected to have at least a second class honours degree (or its equivalent). This may be in any subject discipline.
In addition, applicants to the MA in Librarianship programme would normally be expected to have had a year of practical experience in a library, information unit, or other information-related organisation before joining the Department. For applicants to all other programmes, previous work experience would be advantageous, but candidates without such experience will be given equal consideration.
Professional Enhancement Programmes
Our Professional Enhancement Programmes are open to applicants with at least 2 years' relevant work experience and who either have an undergraduate degree in librarianship/information studies/information systems or who have an undergraduate degree in any subject area together with an acceptable relevant professional qualification. Applicants with an undergraduate degree in another subject area but who have no relevant professional qualifications must possess at least 5 years' relevant work experience to be considered. Applicants without an undergraduate degree but who have other qualifications and substantial relevant work experience may be considered for entry onto the PGDiploma or PGCertificate programmes. Candidates are encouraged to contact the Department for further information regarding entry requirements and to discuss their particular circumstances.
