Entry requirements for MPhil and PhD

Applicants for the PhD/MPhil programmes of study should normally have, or expect to have by the October of the year of application, a good honours first degree.

In addition, applicants whose first language is not English are required to provide documentary evidence of English Language competence (IELTS minimum overall score of 6.5, with scores of at least 6.0 in the writing and speaking components and scores of at least 5.5 in the reading and listening components or TOEFL minimum score 575 (paper-based score)/232 (computer-based score)/90 (internet-based score) with a score of at least 5.0 in written English). Successful candidates may be required to attend an English Language class in the University before or during the programme.
