Tuition Fees

The 2009-10 tuition fees for new students on our postgraduate research programmes are as follows:

  • UK/EU students: full time = £3,890 per year; part time = £1,680 per year
  • Overseas Students: £12,600 per year

The tuition fees for research programmes are subject to review every year. If necessary, please contact the Department for up-to-date information concerning the tuition fees payable for UK/EU and Overseas students.

Funding

Please note that in order to be considered for a studentship, you must first apply to the University for admission to an appropriate programme of study. Students hoping to apply for funding with us should ensure that they have applied for a place on our research programme in advance of the above deadline.

University of Sheffield Studentships

University Prize Scholarships and Faculty Prize Scholarships will be available for entry in 2010-11. The Scholarships will provide tuition fees at the UK/EU rate and a maintenance grant.

Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Funded Studentships

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has awarded the University of Sheffield a number of studentships in specified subject areas and for specified schemes. AHRC funded studentships are now available through the AHRC Block Grant Partnership (BGP).

Through the BGP, the University is now awarding studentships to prospective postgraduate students, on a competitive basis and subject to AHRC approval. EU nationals accepted to study on programmes and in subject areas for which BGP studentships have been allocated will be eligible for nomination to AHRC.

It may also be possible for well qualified graduates to be considered for the award of research studentships funded by one of the following research councils:

Please note these studentships are not available to overseas students.

The University of Sheffield offers a few studentships under different schemes, which both UK/EC and Overseas research candidates to this Department may be eligible for.
