My main area of research is Information Systems. In parallel I have an interest in two collateral areas, namely Information Management and Educational Informatics. My interest in these two areas concerns natural overlaps between the disciplines and are the result of the combination of my professional background and my academic interests.
As a consequence, I am currently a member of both the Educational Informatics Group and the Information Systems Group in the Department of Information Studies. Additionally, I am the Head of the Knowledge and Information Management research group. These are the areas in which I have an active research interest:
Information Systems and Information Management:
- Information Systems Modelling, Analysis, Design, Development and Project Management
- Information Systems Risk Management
- Knowledge Management
- Database Modelling and Design
- Mobile and Ubiquitous Information Technologies
Educational Informatics and e-Learning:
- Design of rich environments for active learning, bringing together understanding of learning theories, educational systems and learning environments design, information systems design, web-design, hypermedia and computer-supported collaborative work
- Networked Information and Communication skills and computer-mediated communication (in particular, when applied to areas of networked learning and IT in teaching and learning)
