Who should take this course?

The MA in Global Journalism offers a mix of academic and practical study that will enable students to gain theoretical insight and some hands-on experience of global journalism. The MA explores a range of issues related to the media and its relationship with political and public institutions within regional, national and international contexts.

Students on the course will engage in debates about issues, mechanisms and processes of journalism in a comparative global context, as well as getting some hands-on practical experience of communicating news in the contemporary global environment.

The department has links to media organisations such as the BBC, Sky News and The Guardian newspaper, as well as political institutions such as the UK Parliament and the European Commission Regional offices.

If English isn't your first language you'll need an IELTS score of at least 7.0 overall, with at least 6.5 in writing and no other element lower than 6.0.

The twin aims of the MA are to engage students in advanced level debates about global journalism, and to provide students with an introduction to practical elements of communicating with and writing for the media.
