Alaaddin F. Paksoy

Alaaddin holds B.A. degrees in 'Journalism' and 'Cinema and Television' from Anadolu University, Turkey. He finished his M.A. degree in 2007 at Stockholm University, Sweden. He is currently a PhD student (recently upgraded, 2nd year) at the Department of Journalism, the University of Sheffield.

Under the supervision of Professor Ralph Negrine, his research is about Representation of Turkey´s EU bid in UK newspapers and the BBC News website. He is looking at what happened in the first decade of the official candidacy of Turkish EU membership (1999-2009) and how this period was represented by the British media. His research interests consist of Media Representation, Turkey-EU relations, Orientalism, Turkish Westernisation, European Identity.
