In 1996, I joined the Mass Communication Department at King Saud University and I obtained my BA degree in 2000. Following my graduation, I served as the head of Domestic News Dep. at Al Massaiya. In addition, I worked as journalist in the Saudi Majlis Ash-Shura since 2001 and was a political editor in the Ash-Shura Magazine. In 2003, I was in charge of the first weekly parliamentary news page in the Saudi press throughout Al Jazirah Newspaper that focuses mostly on Ash-Shura debates and activities. Between 2006-2008, I served as correspondent for Al Eqtisadiah Newspaper (the Economist) from the UK. In 2009, I joined the teaching staff at King Saud University.
I obtained my master degree in International Communication from Leeds University In 2006. I joined the Journalism Studies Dept. at Sheffield University since 2007 for undertaking the doctoral study. My thesis presents the process of televising the Majlis Ash-Shura in Saudi Arabia as a case study of a newly emerging political institution, and explores some insights of how political content treated in Saudi Arabia throughout state-owned television. In addition, my study will examine the Majlis members' attitudes toward the introduction of TV cameras and its influence on their behaviours.
My research interests include several topics such as media in the Arab world, political communication, news making and censorship, and parliament & media.
