Kathryn Reaney
Journalism Studies Tutor
Kathryn Reaney has more than 20 years’ experience working as a journalist in newspapers, radio and television.
Most recently she has worked on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, You & Yours and The Message, producing programmes and features.
She began her career in local newspapers and has worked at the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph and Derby Evening Telegraph as a reporter, news editor and sub-editor before working in BBC local radio in Sheffield and Hull.
Kathryn was a producer and presenter of YTV’s Calendar news programme and also has a particular interest in community media. She has done a lot of work with school refusers and ex-offenders using journalism training to engage them in learning.
She works as a freelance consultant and trainer for the emergency services, local councils and charities and writes for The Guardian.
Kathryn is now studying for a Masters degree in Creative Writing, specialising in Scriptwriting.
