International Connections
The Department of Landscape has established exchange programmes with several European Landscape Schools. Students studying at Sheffield are able to participate in an Erasmus exchange and complete part of their programme of study at one of the following institutions:
- Wageningen University, The Netherlands (For more information on Wageningen University go to:
http://www.dutchschooloflandscapearchitecture.nl/ )
- Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Bernburg/Dessau, Germany
- Weihenstephan, Germany
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA
- Kyoto University, Japan
Students from these institutions also come to study at Sheffield which adds to the multicultural dimension of the department and is an opportunity to explore different cultural approaches to Landscape Design.
Subject to choosing a programme of study that satisfies the requirements of the Landscape Institute, students may potentially access a wide range of international opportunities. For more information, visit the University's International Exchanges Unit website.

Many staff are research active at an international level. This feeds into student teaching at a module level and also ensures a steady stream of international guest speakers, especially from Europe and North America. We also attract students from all four corners of the world, especially to study on the MA course or undertake a PhD. We appreciate having such a diverse range of students, and our international food evening is a highlight of the departmental social calendar!
