Incoming Exchange Students: Housing

All exchange students are eligible to apply for a place in university accommodation. Details about housing will be sent to your email address by the International Exchanges Unit after you have returned your application form to us. Your housing application can be completed online.

Deadlines for housing applications are:
11th August for semester 1 entry
11th December for semester 2 entry

Please note that a place in university accommodation is not guaranteed and the range of accommodation available to exchange students is limited. This is because many exchange students come to Sheffield for one semester only and for some of the university accommodation contracts are available for a minimum of a full year only.

If you would prefer to live in private accommodation there are usually plenty of rooms specifically for students available to rent in various parts of Sheffield. Rooms are usually in shared houses with three or more other students. If we are advised of rooms to rent, we will email you with details or add a document containing details of available housing on these pages for you to download. Please note however that it will be your responsibility to arrange the accommodation and to ensure that it meets your requirements

Please also note that allocation of places in University accommodaton does not take place until mid July at the earliest so you will not hear from Accommodation Services until that time even if you submit your application very early.
