As a law student at Sheffield you'll benefit from innovative teaching methods that are driven by the latest developments in law and criminology. You'll have the opportunity to get involved in real issues through our unique pro bono scheme – learning from professionals while your work directly benefits local communities. And you'll be part of a supportive community – here at the School of Law and as a member of a university and city that are buzzing with possibilities.
Your support
We'll give you the support and encouragement you need throughout your degree and beyond – the continued dialogue we have with our students long after they graduate is testament to that commitment. You'll have your own personal tutor who you can go to with any questions, whether academic or personal. The atmosphere is friendly and lively. You'll always find someone to help you out – our staff open up their offices each week so that you can stop by for advice or inspiration.
The right course for you
We offer a comprehensive range of qualifying law degrees. You can specialise in criminology, European and international law, combine with a language or follow a straight law programme. Our three-year LLB Law and Criminology degree is one of the leading programmes of its kind in the UK. We also run a non-law degree, BA Social Policy and Criminology, taught jointly with the Department of Sociological Studies.
All our degree courses show you how to use what you learn and prepare you for a successful career. You'll have the opportunity to meet and work with highly experienced legal practitioners, who take a hands-on approach to your development. Major sponsors include leading law firms Addleshaw Goddard, DLA Piper and Nabarro.
Our inquiry-based learning encourages you to think critically and independently, to challenge assumptions and drive forward projects – all skills that make you an asset to any employer.
If you're planning to become a solicitor, our Legal Practice Course will give you the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in the profession.
