Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide a collaborative focus within Sheffield School of Law for research, academic enquiry and, where appropriate, knowledge transfer into all aspects of public international law, European Union law, human rights (European and International) private international law, comparative law, and the study of foreign legal systems.
Research Themes
The current research themes cover the areas of: International Law on Sustainable Development, International Organisations, EU Development Law, EU Welfare Law, International Security Law, European Security Law, Economic Justice, Law and Governance in the EU and International contexts, International Dispute Settlement.
SCIEL has two subgroups:
- The European Union Discussion Group, run jointly with the Department of Politics.
- Private International Law Group.
