Research Interests
My primary research interest lies in the field of EU governance, especially in the sphere of external relations.
My doctoral research explored aspects of governance in relation to the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU with specific focus on the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EuroMed). My monograph, EU External Relations and Systems of Governance, was published in October 2009 by Routledge-Cavendish.
I have also published on other areas relating to the legal order of the EU, including the European Court of Justice´s involvement in external relations, the interaction between systems of governance at the EU and international levels, and the influence of the EU on other regional organisations. I am interested in institutional theory and social constructivism, in particular as applied to the EU.
I am the Deputy Director of CLIC at Sheffield (Acting Director, semester 1 2009-10) and a member of the Centre for the Study of Law in Society (CLIS)
