Main Role/Responsibilities
As Undergraduate Programmes Manager, I am responsible for the delivery of 8 Qualifying and 3 Non Qualifying law degrees to 1,300 students based in the School of Law.
My main areas of responsibility are:
- advising students regarding their studies in accordance with University and Solicitors Regulation Authority ordinances
- assisting on confidential matters relating to personal welfare
- management of the School’s Student Welfare Committees and Examination Boards and overall return of semester results to the University
- awarding degree classifications
- amendments to degree Regulations
- Personal Tutor “matching” for undergraduates
- undergraduate module choices and available options
- co-ordinating “Introductory Week” for new undergraduates and graduation events for exiting undergraduates
- annual awards of academic prizes
In a more student specific capacity, I work closely with the University’s Taught Programmes Office, Student Registry, the Careers Service the University Health and Counselling Services and the Disability and Dyselxia Support Service to ensure that our students receive the highest quality of support and guidance throughout their studies. I have particular depth of experience in working with mature students who enter Higher Education through non traditional routes alongside students who have specific learning difficulties.
I am currently working alongside major UK law firms such as Allen and Overy in order to improve the skills and potential employability of Sheffield law undergraduates in today’s competitive legal market.
I manage the School’s Taught Programmes Office and the work of the School’s 5 members of support staff based in the team.
