Oxford English dictionary (OED)

The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is widely regarded as the accepted authority on the English language. It is a guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of 600,000 words - past and present - from across the English-speaking world. The quarterly updated OED online contains entries from the Second Edition and its Additions volumes, and draft entries from the Third Edition, which is currently in progress.

Access is available directly from this page by connecting to the OED web site - you'll be prompted to login to MUSE as necessary.
