Fines and charges
What if I return my items late?
Fines are only charged for the late return of requested items but accumulate at the rate of £2 per day.
Fines must be paid promptly, but borrowing will not be suspended until a limit of £20.00 on your borrower account has been exceeded.
We help you to avoid fines by sending you an email to let you know if any of your books cannot be renewed due to requests on them, and also by sending you a weekly borrowing statement to remind you which books you have out on loan and highlight any that have been requested.
It is essential you check your weekly borrowing statement and library account regularly to avoid fines, and ensure no-one has reserved the items you have on loan. If you have any problems with your library account please contact the Library HelpDesk at library@sheffield.ac.uk
Fines are charged on overdue InterLibrary Request items. An InterLibrary Request price list can be found at InterLibrary Request charges
