Authorised by
Supply Chain Management and Information Systems (SCMIS) Consortium

Aim

SCMIS2009 aims to gather leading experts in the spheres of supply chain management and information systems to share and exchange new ideas and innovation to shape the future direction of research and knowledge exchange in supply chain management and information systems.

The theme for SCMIS2009 is "Low Carbon and Green Supply Chain". With increased pressure to respond to the effect of climate change, it is a global concern that many fragmented and disorganised operations and effort have been invested attempting to minimise carbon footprint and CO2 emission. SCMIS2009 will pull together some consensus from leading experts in related fields and formulate new directions, strategies and priority areas for the next 10 years. Various important sub-themes have been identified, where these will be debated from the governmental perspective, industry perspective, academic perspective, and consumer perspective. The sub-themes of SCMIS2009 include, but not limited to:

  1. Regulation, standard, directive and policy implications on low carbon supply chain
  2. Climate change impact on supply chain
  3. Resource depletion impact on supply chain
  4. Environment, social and economic impact and performance from low carbon supply chain
  5. Green innovations and practices towards low carbon supply chain
  6. Decarbonisation in supply chain
  7. Clean technology
  8. Renewable energy and resources
  9. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
  10. Energy security, supply and demand
  11. Green behaviours
  12. Waste minimisation
  13. Reverse logistics
  14. Eco-design, eco-procurement and eco-logistics and eco-production
  15. Sustainable development across countries, across regions and across sectors

Structure

Attendance at SCMIS2009 is by invitation. It is envisaged that this workshop will gather 20 leading experts from academic, industry and government in these fields to provide a highly intellectual, inspired, thought provoking and innovative knowledge sharing platform and important debate. Special Issue with high impact factor journals (SCI and SSCI etc) will also be organised to collate the leading thoughts and research on low carbon and green supply chain. Strategy paper will be prepared for selected governmental bodies.

Sponsorship

The local accommodation at SCMIS2009 for the invitees will be funded by the Center of Humanities and Social Science at National Chung Hsing University. The registration fees of the invitees will be waived.

Submission
