The IDC in Machining Science is an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training funding doctoral research to improve the machining of metals, alloys and composite materials. Machining Science research is vital to the UK's continuing dominance and expansion in many areas of High Value Manufacturing (e.g. automotive, aerospace, watchmaking, medical engineering), where there are major challenges in machining complex components from high performance materials. About IDC and AMRC
The IDC is operated by the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and Faculty of Engineering, supported by EPSRC and the industrial sponsors.
The IDC in Machining Science can only offer EPSRC funded studentships to UK applicants and to EU applicants who have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years immediately preceding the start of the course. Please see here for eligibility details.
