About the IDC and the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre

Our fully funded four-year EngD programme combines taught modules with original research that addresses real business problems posed by the industrial sponsors.
Sponsoring an EngD allows companies to drive research in areas relevant to their needs, with access to world class research facilities and experts in machining science.
The Engineering Doctorate (EngD) is a well established programme in the UK. It aims to produce postgraduate engineers with skills relevant to the needs of industry.
The IDC is operated by the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) and Faculty of Engineering, supported by EPSRC and the industrial sponsors.
