The Sheffield Beta Gamma Sigma ChapterBeta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is the international honour society serving business programmes accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The first AACSB standards, established in 1919, had the primary objective of improving collegiate business education. Over the years the standards have been revised and developed to reflect the ever-changing needs of the business profession and its students. Today, accreditation from AACSB ensures excellence across the school's critical areas including the school’s mission, operations, faculty qualifications and contributions and programmes. |
The Mission of the International Honour Society Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honour academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members. For more information about the Sheffield BGS Chapter at the Management School email mgtalumni@sheffield.ac.uk or find out more about BGS at www.betagammasigma.org. |
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business programme accredited by AACSB International. Following the accreditation from AACSB in 2012, the Management School became eligible to establish a BGS Chapter here in Sheffield. The School joined the top one per cent of centres across the world – 57 globally and just 14 in the UK – to be awarded by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and the AACSB.

Congratulations to the first members of the Management School's BGS Chapter
The Management School was delighted to officially establish the Sheffield BGS Chapter by hosting its very first BGS Induction Ceremony on 10th January 2013.
The School inducted its first 14 members into the BGS honour society and those that were able to attend were presented with their membership certificates by Dr Gary Simpson of Aston Business School, and BGS Inducting Officer. Professor Lenny Koh, Associate Dean for Alumni Affairs at the Management School was also presented with the BGS Chapter Charter on behalf of the School.
The Management School's first BGS Induction was a great success and we look forward to inducting new members at future events as we continue to acknowledge the excellence of our students and alumni.
