Develop skills for a career in enhancing organisational effectiveness

MSc in Occupational Psychology

This programme is recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as contributing towards Chartered Psychologist status and registration by the Health Professions Council (HPC) as an Occupational Psychologist. The course has been running for over 30 years and has an international reputation. It attracts students from all over the world who are interested in achieving a successful career in business consultancy, human resource management or organisational research.

The programme will increase your understanding of occupational psychology, develop a critical appreciation of existing theory and practice and help you acquire the skills necessary for research and practice as an occupational psychologist. You’ll study six core modules in personnel selection and development, training and well-being, organisational behaviour, work systems and human factors, research and statistics. You’ll also conduct a significant piece of research with a participating organisation from March to September. Project opportunities can be generated by students themselves or through IWP’s network of contacts, some of which may have bursaries attached. Projects provide the chance for students to apply their knowledge to real-world issues and develop their organisational skills.

The course is taught by staff of the Institute of Work Psychology (IWP), a centre of excellence with one of the largest groups of organisational psychology academics in Europe and a world-class reputation.

We are committed to increasing understanding of occupational wellbeing and effectiveness and identifying factors leading to their enhancement. We work with a wide range of public and private sector organisations and act as an advisory body to many practitioners, professional bodies and policymakers.
