Mehmet Demirbag 

Professor Mehmet Demirbag is Chair of International Business and Head of the Strategy, Marketing and International Business division at the University of Sheffield Management School. He has wide experience of research and teaching in International Business and International Strategic Management in the UK and abroad. Prior to joining the University of Sheffield Management School, he taught in Turkey for seven years at Inonu University. Professor Demirbag also has extensive experience in policy development having served as principal advisor for the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Trade. Over the years, he has completed research projects for a range of funding bodies including the European Commission. Currently, he teaches International Business at undergraduate, postgraduate and executive levels. He is also a regional advisor for Emerald Group Publishing Ltd.

Professor Demirbag completed his master’s degree in Business Analysis at the University of Leicester and his PhD at the University of Bradford Management School.

Recent research interests have been focused around the internationalisation of R&D activities, product/regional diversification strategies of MNEs, and MNEs from emerging markets. He supervises PhD students on Multinationals from Emerging Countries, FDI in Emerging and Transitional Countries, International Mergers and Acquisitions, and Reverse Knowledge Transfer by Emerging Country MNEs.

His research has appeared in Journal of Management Studies, Management International Review, Journal of World Business, OMEGA, International Journal of Production Economics, International Business Review, International Marketing Review, International Journal of Production Research, Human Resource Management Journal, International Journal of Human Resource Management, European Marketing Journal, Thunderbird International Business Review, and International Review of Applied Economics, among others.

Professor Demirbag has been co-guest editor for Human Resource Management (US), Journal of World Business, Journal of East West Business, International Marketing Review, Journal of Management Development, and Employee Relations.

Professor Demirbag is editorial review board member of Journal of East West Business, Eurasia Journal of Business and Economics, International Journal of Quality and Standards, Journal of Global Analysis, and previously Scandinavian Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Research Interests
