Green Impact Team

Green Impact logoStaff and students are working together to make positive changes to the Departments environmental practice.

Inspirational people from all corners of the globe come together here in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Originating from over 35 countries, we are proud to be a truly diverse community of over 1200 scientists, students and support staff working together to push boundaries of knowledge in Materials Science & Engineering.

Alongside diversity, we aim for true equality of opportunity at all levels. With our 'Successful Women in Materials(SWIM), 'Equality and Diversity(E&D)Schools Outreach and Degree Admissions actions, we aim to promote access to degree courses, training, mentoring and career opportunities so that the outstanding potential of our female and male students and staff can be realised alongside other life-issues such as Parenthood & Caring responsibilities and Disability.

We are working with the wider Materials Community including the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) to develop events targeted for further growth and achievement of our thriving Student, PDRA and Researcher Communities. Upcoming Materials events and links to key support are detailed on this website.

We aim high, achieving within a diverse range of working patterns and career paths. Some of our inspirational stories are described here. If you have exciting news or stories to tell, please let us know. We welcome your involvement and ideas!
